Rava dosa is a popular South Indian crepe made from semolina and rice flour. Its known for its crispy and lacy texture. This recipe shows you how to make this delicious and quick dosa at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of semolina rava
  • 1/4 cup of rice flour
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of grated ginger
  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • A handful of finely chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions:

Put the semolina, rice flour, all-purpose flour, and yogurt in a bowl and mix them together

To the mix, add black pepper, grated ginger, chopped green chilies, chopped coriander leaves, and cumin seeds

Mix well, and slowly add water until you have a thin batter

It should be about the same thickness as buttermilk

Take a break for 20 to 30 minutes

Warm up a cast-iron or nonstick skillet and add a little oil to it

Put a small amount of the rava dosa batter on the hot pan and spread it out in a circle to make a thin, lacy dosa

Cover the edges of the dosa with a little oil

Cook it over medium-low heat until the edges get golden brown and crispy

The dosa should be turned over and cooked for one more minute, or until it gets crisp and lightly browned on both sides

Take the dosa out of the pan and serve it hot with sambar or coconut chutney

Do the same thing with the rest of the batter, making sure to stir it well before each dosa to make sure the consistency is the same
