Turtle Thumbprint Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, separated
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 12 soft caramel candies, unwrapped
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet
Put the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a bowl and sift them together
Mix the butter and sugar in a different bowl until they are smooth
Along with the butter, add the egg yolk, milk, and vanilla extract
Make sure to mix the ingredients well
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ones and mix them together until they are just combined
Beat the egg white in a small bowl until it gets foamy
Shape the cookie dough into 1-inch balls
Coat each ball with egg white and then cover it with pecan pieces
Put the covered balls on the baking sheet that has been prepared
Use your thumb or the back of a teaspoon to make a hole in the middle of each one
For 10 to 12 minutes, bake
If the holes puff up while its baking, gently press them back down
As soon as you take the cookies out of the oven, put a soft caramel candy in the middle of each hole
To make the chocolate chips and heavy cream smooth, heat the bowl in the microwave for 20 seconds at a time and stir each time
Put some chocolate on top of the caramel in each cookie
Before you serve, let the cookies cool down and the chocolate set
