Smores Poke Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 can 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup crushed graham crackers
- 1/4 cup chocolate syrup
- 1/4 cup mini marshmallows for topping
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish
In a mixing bowl, prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions, using the water, vegetable oil, and eggs
In another bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter
Press this mixture into the bottom of the greased baking dish to form a crust
Pour the prepared chocolate cake batter over the graham cracker crust in the baking dish
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean
While the cake is still warm, use the back of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cakes surface
Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes
Sprinkle mini marshmallows and chocolate chips over the top of the cake
Return the cake to the oven and broil on low for 1-2 minutes, just until the marshmallows and chocolate chips begin to melt and turn golden brown
Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning
Remove the cake from the oven and sprinkle crushed graham crackers over the top
Drizzle chocolate syrup over the cake for extra flavor and decoration
Allow the cake to cool completely before serving
You can refrigerate it to speed up the cooling process
Before serving, top with additional mini marshmallows for a smores look and feel
